Archaeological Consultancy across the Scottish Highlands and Islands led by Andy Young MCIfA
With over thirty years of practical experience in commercial archaeology in Scotland and England we offer independent and professional archaeological advice and consultancy to developers large and small, for work required as part of the planning process. Now based in Evanton in the Highlands, we undertake all aspects of archaeological work that may be required by the local planning authorities in the north of Scotland and the Isles, including preliminary documentary research, written schemes of investigation (WSI), high precision GPS survey, watching brief, evaluation trenching, mitigation through design, full excavation and the preparation of appropriate reports. In addition, we also carry out academic research and publication and can provide public presentations.
If you are a single house builder or a larger developer and need advice or help to deal with a Condition for archaeology attached to your planning consent, please contact Principal Archaeologist, Andy Young MCIfA, at avonarch@yahoo.co.uk or telephone 07925 132509.
We can provide you with the most cost-effective way to complete the archaeology work you need to the full satisfaction of the local planning authority and to the highest professional standards of the Chartered Institute for Archaeology (CIfA).
Avon Archaeology maintains full Public, Employers and Professional Indemnity insurance and has done so continuously for the past 25 years.
